Lena Younts Meredith was born in Anderson County. She grew up in Manning, South Carolina and graduated first in her class from Manning High School in 1987. She was named a Carolina Scholar and received a full scholarship to the University of South Carolina, where she majored in English at the South Carolina Honors College. She also studied abroad at the University of Kent, Canterbury, U.K. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991.

Mrs. Meredith attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and received the degree of Juris Doctor in 1995. For the first nine years of her career, she practiced in the Third Judicial Circuit primarily in the areas of civil tort litigation and workers’ compensation She is a past member of the Sumter County and Clarendon County Bar Associations, and an active member of the South Carolina Trial Lawyers, American Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Association. She previously served on the Third Circuit Attorney Fee Dispute Resolution Board.

Mrs. Meredith is married to Michael Meredith, who is native of Greenwood and is employed by Meredith Insurance Associates, Inc. The Merediths have two, children, David Reid, who is ten years old, and F. Michael Meredith, III, born October 21, 2004.
